We have seen our caterpillars grow and change so much! They were very active in their container today. Today we talked about how our 9 day old caterpillars are now getting ready to go into their chrysallides. We discussed how each caterpillar will probably be in its chrysalis when we return to school on Monday.
This week was our last week of Reading Street unit 3. This means that next week we will not have a typical homework packet. There will not be spelling words to practice. The children will have a reading log to complete. Please use the break from the regular homework routine to work on some skills your own child needs to focus on. This could include practicing high-frequency sight words that are still tricky, spending extra time reading, working on addition and subtraction facts so they become automatic, solving addition and subtraction word problems that you make up, or even working on tying their own shoe laces. That last one is still difficult for a few of the children.
Please continue sending your children to school with a jacket for recess. We are outside in the morning, well before the average high temperature of the day. The children have needed to keep their jackets on lately. Believe me, when it is warm enough, we have the children take their jackets off. It is always better to have a jacket at school just in case they need it.
