Happy Friday! Picture day was a success. I think this is the first year that all of my students were present for picture day! The children looked fantastic, I can't wait to see how their pictures turn out.
Updates for the week of October 19th:
Monday and Wednesday are gym days. Please have your child wear sneakers to school.
Wednesday is Library day. Every student in my class brought home a library book on Wednesday and should return it on October 21st so a new book can be checked out.
Our Reading Street story of the week is Get the Egg! We will be discussing how we can help animals. We will also be learning how to spell words with the short e sound, such as the e in egg.
During math we will be learning about unit boxes. You saw these on this week's homework. They are basically a box where you write the label that goes with a word problem (which we call a number story). For example: Timmy has 3 pencils. Kate gives him 2 more. How many pencils does Timmy have? The student solves the problem as usual. Then, in the unit box, the student would write pencils.
We will also be working on change to more and change to less diagrams during math.
Have a great weekend!
