It's a good thing you aren't in the room with me right now as I sing this old song by The Beatles...
I really do need someone (or maybe even a couple of people) to volunteer to be a Room Parent for our class. I mentioned it at Curriculum Night last week, and now I am begging. :) Please take a moment to read the information below about being a Willett Room Parent. I look forward to being overwhelmed with volunteers for this position!
Hello Parents,
This year, we are starting a new program to help facilitate communication between parents and teachers. Each classroom is in need of one parent (or family team) volunteer. Your main task is to send out informative emails to the other parents in the classroom. Below is the description of your volunteer position:
Room Parent Job Description
This position consists of one volunteer parent from each classroom to act as a go-between for the teacher and the PTO to the classroom parents. Each volunteer is responsible for:
1. Representing the teacher at the PTO meeting (or reaching out to the PTO committee) if the teacher is unable to attend and has something to communicate
2. Reaching out to parents, as a representative of the teacher, when a PTO event is in need of supplies or volunteers.
3. Reaching out to parents for classroom volunteers or volunteers for functions during school and donation of supplies for the school
4. The 3-4 volunteers from each grade also form a subcommittee responsible for running grade-specific fundraising activities (such as field trips and ice cream socials), with the support of the PTO co-president.
This volunteer position is can be done entirely via computer/email, so it is a great way to get involved if you are unable to get to the school regularly. The time commitment is minimal and flexible! There will be one meeting before you start, at your convenience, with the PTO Co-president and other room parents in your grade.
Thank you so much for considering taking an active role in your child’s school community. This opportunity is a wonderful way to talk to other parents, teachers, and get involved!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dooley
