Our class has been working very hard on our wild animals and habitats unit. We have been learning about what informational texts are and how to use them to do research. We have been enjoying books about many different wild animals. We can describe the desert, arctic, ocean, rainforest, and savanna habitats. We have learned why animals live in certain habitats. Wow! These first graders are wild animal and habitat experts!
As you know, I was planning on having the children complete a poster or a diorama to show a wild animal in its habitat. I have changed the project, but have no fear, I am taking the work off your “to do” list. There will NOT be an at home piece to the project. Instead, Mr. Steinberg will be working with us in addition to our regular computer time. He will be coming to first grade to have the children do their projects on the IPads using a really cool app called Thinglink. I am very excited to share the final projects with you. My plan is to post them to our classroom website when they are complete. We will also share them in class.
For this week’s homework, as we have been doing, please have your child read each day, and complete the book of the week.
Thank you for your support in all that we are learning!
Please remember that Willett is part of a citywide food drive to help local food pantries. Our goal at Willett is to collect 1,000 items as part of being a Feinstein Leadership School. I know that we can do this because I have seen such incredible generosity in the Willett family. I want to thank you for all you do to support Willett.
Have a positive and productive week!
