I hope you enjoyed the long Columbus Day Weekend. It sure went by quickly!
Tomorrow is gym day. Please have your child wear sneakers to school.
This week, our class will be reading, discussing, and writing about wild animals, and how these animals care for their young. Our story of the week is The Fox and The Kit. As we read, we are also working on finding the main idea in our stories. We are practicing using complete sentences to explain the main idea. Our spelling words have inflected -s endings. We are talking about how to use these words in sentences. We will also work on adding -in endings to words.
During our Everyday Math lessons, we are focusing on composing and decomposing numbers to ten. We are using turn around facts and ten frames to solve number stories (some of us called these word problems when we were students). To the right is a picture of some of our work from today's lesson. Ask your children to discuss how we made this poster and what we were learning about. It may help them understand the math homework in this weeks'so packet. 😀
Please remember to to have your child complete all of the homework and return the packet on Friday. Please use pencil on the written parts of the homework. Students may use crayon or colored pencil to color when directions ask for them to color. However, pens and markers should not be used in the homework packet.
Remember, Friday is picture day. Please return the picture envelope on Friday if you plan to purchase your child's picture. The envelopes were sent home at the beginning of last week.
