This is an electronic copy of the note that was sent home today,
just in case you need to refer back to it.
Dear Families,
Today our class had the opportunity to once again practice our fire drill procedures. We also took some time to talk about what to do during other kinds of emergencies here at school. I wanted to share this with you just in case they come home with questions, or if they tell you what we did, but forget to tell you that it was only a practice.
Yesterday was our library day. I was very proud that every child in our class remembered to return their books so they could borrow a new one. J
Next Wednesday, October28th is our next library day. Again, children who return their books will borrow another to bring home. The tricky part of this is that October 28th is also the day that our class visits the Scholastic Book Fair to purchase books. If you would like your child to buy books, please send them to school with the check or money in an envelope marked with their name. It will be very helpful to us if you could look through the attached book fair flyer and help your child decide what books they will buy. Of course, there will be additional books not shown in the flyer, but if your first graders come to school with a list of items you find acceptable, it makes our book fair less confusing for them.
Please remember that candy is not allowed in school at all. Some children are finding lollipops, Hershey Kisses, etc. as little treats in their lunch boxes. They are not allowed to eat these at snack, or at lunch. Even candy that comes as part of a prepackaged Lunchable is not to be eaten at school. The children become very upset when they find the candy but are told that they may not eat it.
Homework packets need to be completed and returned to school tomorrow, along with your child’s weekly clip chart paper.
Thank you,
Mrs. Dooley
