We had a fabulous day in first grade today! As part of our book character day, in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday, we had enjoyed a whole school reading of Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You? It was presented by the Willett teachers. Following today's Willett Community Gathering, we enjoyed a parade of characters through the school. That's not all! We read the book The Lorax in class, watched a video about Dr. Seuss, and participated in trivia about the author! Did you know Dr. Seuss was from Massachusetts? This was a special day, for sure!
If any families are able to donate items to our classroom, we could use some new Expo markers. I am finding that the skinny ones are easiest for our little hands to write with, and the black ones clean off the whiteboards the best. We could also use a few boxes of tissues, and some liquid handsoap since the wall dispenser is hard for some of my friends to reach.
We are starting our new math unit this week. I sent home some information about it yesterday. Next week, most likely I will send home your child's first math journal, along with a letter about what we did in it. It will be for you to keep at home and use to practice skills with your child.
