Thank you to all of the families who attended parent conferences last Wednesday and Thursday. I appreciate that you could take the time to come to discuss your child's progress.
Our specials schedule is changing just a bit. Our day E special each rotation will be technology. This begins when we return on Thursday (Day E).
There is no school tomorrow in honor of Veterans Day. This midweek day off can be tricky for first graders. You can help by showing them the calendar and counting how many more days of school they still have this week until the next day off on the weekend. It will be helpful if evening/bedtime routines remain as consistent as possible so the children are not returning feeling overtired on Thursday.
Quite a few children did not return library books for our "make up" library day on Monday. Please be sure that books are returned next Wednesday, November 18th so a new book can be chosen.
This week we have been learning about using informational texts, and what research is, in preparation for our upcoming research on a wild animal and its habitat. The children have been very excited about the books we've explored, the videos we have watched, and the activities we have done using the IPad. In the next few days I will be sending home details about an at-home piece of the project that your child will be working on. In connection with our studies, students will be asked to choose a wild animal to research. At home they will create something to show that animal in its habitat. This could be done by making a poster or a diorama. It should be creative and fun. The projects will be shared in class on November 23rd, and 24th.
